SecuriGroup has been named a finalist for the ROCCO Award for Environmental Sustainability, recognising the work taking place across the business to reduce environmental impact and embed more sustainable ways of working.
Organised by Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce,
the ROCCO Awards celebrate businesses and organisations across Renfrewshire, with the Environmental Sustainability category recognising commitment to improving environmental performance.
The nomination reflects our long-term approach to sustainability, built around practical action and measurable progress, spanning transport, digitalisation, waste reduction, procurement and workplace operations.
Turning commitment into measurable action
We have set a target to achieve
Net Zero emissions by 2040, alongside an ambition for our vehicle fleet to be
100% electric or hybrid by 2030.
That ambition is supported by changes already being made across the organisation.
Our digital-first approach, including the continued development of SecuriGo, has helped reduce paper use by more than 172,000 sheets, while virtual CCTV patrols and other operational changes have removed more than 100,000 vehicle miles.
A circular uniform programme has also processed 2,000 kg of end-of-life uniforms in a single year, helping divert textile waste from landfill, while more than 2,000 native trees have been planted in Perthshire through an initiative accredited by the Woodland Carbon Code.
This work sits forms part of our
ISO 14001-certified environmental management approach and wider commitment to measuring and reporting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
Making sustainability part of how we work
Environmental responsibility isn't treated as a standalone initiative.
The aim is to consider it in everyday operational decisions, from how services are delivered and journeys reduced to the way uniforms, IT equipment, furniture and other resources are managed.
That approach was also reflected in our recent office move, where existing furniture was reused wherever possible, surplus items were directed through a furniture reuse scheme and new furniture was sourced locally.
Energy-efficient infrastructure, electric vehicle charging points and secure cycle facilities were also incorporated into the workplace.
Colleagues have an important part to play too.
Our
ESG working group brings together employees from different regions, departments and areas of the business to share ideas and help shape environmental priorities.
Kim Brechin, Director of Services at SecuriGroup, said:
“Being named a finalist for the ROCCO Award for Environmental Sustainability is fantastic recognition of the progress being made across SecuriGroup.
“For us, sustainability has to translate into meaningful action. Whether that's reducing unnecessary journeys, moving away from paper-based processes or finding more circular ways to manage uniforms and other resources, we're focused on changes that can make a measurable difference.
“There's still more for us to do, but we're proud of the progress we've made and of the colleagues, customers and partners helping us move towards our longer-term environmental goals.”
Looking towards Net Zero
SecuriGroup was one of the
first 100 companies globally to join
The Climate Pledge, committing to reach Net Zero carbon by 2040.
Going forward, the focus will remain on reducing emissions at source, progressing its electric and hybrid fleet transition, further digitalising its operations and extending circular principles across areas including uniforms, IT equipment and purchased materials.
Increasingly, the focus will also be on working alongside customers and suppliers to identify shared opportunities to reduce environmental impact through the services SecuriGroup delivers.
Being named a ROCCO finalist is another welcome recognition of that progress and of SecuriGroup's wider ambition to demonstrate that growth, innovation and more sustainable security services can go hand in hand.
