Microsoft has stopped general security updates for Windows 7 – and your systems may still be running on the vulnerable OS.

Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 earlier this year, opening the system up to exploitation. As a result, Windows 7 users will no longer receive the all-important security updates and patches that keep their machines safe.

Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed, industry-supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common online threats. It is managed by the National Cyber Security Centre, which is a part of GCHQ.

The Government developed Cyber Essentials and its set of technical controls to help organisations protect themselves against common online security threats.

From 1 October 2014, Government requires all suppliers bidding for contracts involving the handling of certain sensitive and personal information to be certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme.
