SecuriGroup is now working with Norbord and their German construction partner, Kurt Schuhmacher KG, as part of Norbord's major £95 million investment in the Scottish Highlands.
The factory near Inverness was the first in Europe to produce the UK's leading OSB product when it was built in the early 1980s – and Norbord said the investment would help the Highlands meet growing demand across Europe. The world-leading manufacturer of engineered wood-based products, Norbord will soon double their production from the Moray mill with this landmark modernisation project.
As progress marches on, SecuriGroup will continue to work in close collaboration with Norbord to ensure the project is completed in the second half of 2017.
One of the largest employers in the region, Norbord's long-term investment in the wider area is great news to the local population as it guarantees the future of 130 workers and helps to support 300 jobs. The development agency's chief executive, Alex Paterson, said:
This development will put Norbord's Inverness plant on a sustainable footing for decades to come, and is a huge vote of confidence in the company's Scottish workforce. It's worth noting that the positive impact of today's announcement will be felt well beyond Inverness and the Inner Moray Firth.by Alex Paterson - Development Agency's Chief Executive
Norbord is not only a significant local employer in its own right, it also plays an important strategic role in the region's forestry sector and is a major user of haulage companies and port infrastructure.
SecuriGroup will provide over 20,000 total man hours each year as we support both the expanding Moray mill and the state of the art site in Cowie. As part of our bespoke security solution, we have sourced and managed the installation of a unique access control gate with innovative biometric technology.
We are the largest security provider headquartered in Scotland, with strong links to the Highland Council and extensive experience within the construction sector. These attributes made SecuriGroup the first choice for the German construction partner, ensuring the safety and security of the development and their 200 strong workforce.
As one of the largest construction projects in Scotland, we are excited to continue our collaborative efforts with Norbord throughout 2017.
